NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE: Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey to congratulate Harnett Co. and the N.C. Assoc. of Fire Chiefs for recruiting minority volunteer firefighters during visit to Harnett and Lee counties Monday

North Carolina Department of Insurance issued the following announcement July 17.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will stop by fire stations and an emergency services center during a trip to Harnett and Lee counties on Monday, July 20.

Commissioner Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, will discuss efforts to improve volunteer firefighter recruitment and retention during the stops. He will also listen to firefighters’ concerns.

Commissioner Causey will also congratulate Harnett County on the Work Force Solutions grant awarded to the Harnett County Chiefs Association, which is comprised of 19 fire departments. Commissioner Causey and the Department of Insurance’s Office of State Fire Marshal have supported the N.C. Association of Fire Chiefs’ and Work Force Solutions’ efforts to reach out and recruit minority volunteer firefighters. The Office of State Fire Marshal has also been involved in these recruiting efforts.

 1:15 p.m. – Cape Fear Rural Fire Department

 2 p.m. – Carolina Trace Volunteer Fire Department
