Wake County and Blue Ridge Atlantic have begun construction on Parkside Apartments, a new affordable housing project in Raleigh. The development, located on Kent Road, aims to provide 144 units designed for working families near Western Boulevard, an area known for its amenities and connectivity.

Chair Susan Evans from the Wake County Board of Commissioners highlighted the importance of this initiative. She stated, “We made a promise two years ago to expand access to affordable housing, and today we’re making good on that promise. Parkside Apartments will bring relief to families who are struggling to find homes they can afford, in a location that puts them close to everything they need to thrive.”

Initially approved by the Wake County Board of Commissioners in 2023, the $5.7 million Wake County investment is supplemented by $6 million from the City of Raleigh. Blue Ridge Atlantic is developing the project, offering a variety of income-restricted units.

Chris Eisenzimmer, President of Blue Ridge Atlantic, discussed the joint efforts of public and nonprofit entities in this project. “We are honored to work alongside our public and nonprofit partners to bring Parkside Apartments to life,” he said. “This development will provide Raleigh families not only a place to live, but a true community, with amenities and access that are second to none.”

Parkside Apartments is planned to include amenities such as a fitness center, playground, and business center while offering proximity to public transport and downtown Raleigh. The construction is slated to complete in 2026, with the project promising to enhance access to employment, education, and transit for its residents.
