The Wake County Sheriff’s Office held three Shop with the Sheriff events in December, providing support to local families during the holiday season. The annual tradition aims to strengthen community relationships and ensure children have gifts for the holidays.

Sheriff Willie Rowe said, “This opportunity to meet with the children, allow them to shop, buy some Christmas toys and gifts and go home and celebrate this time of year, that’s what it’s all about.”

Nearly 70 children took part in the program, each receiving between $100 and $200. Participants were paired with a member of the Sheriff’s Office staff—including deputies, detention officers, or administrative employees—to select toys, clothing, or other items they wanted.

“It’s a blessing to be able to participate in this type of event,” said Rowe. “God blessed us to be a blessing and now we have an opportunity to fulfill the great commandment of caring for one another.”

The event was supported by Learning Express Toys and Gifts, Walmart, Target, and the Wake County Sheriff’s Office Charitable Foundation.

The Sheriff’s Office stated its commitment to making the holiday season brighter for families who may need extra support at this time of year.
