Wake County Public Libraries is set to observe National Library Week, spotlighting the significant impact of libraries in the local community. Under this year’s theme, “Drawn to the Library,” the celebration aims to demonstrate how libraries can stimulate curiosity, provide entertainment, and serve as central learning hubs for people of all ages.

“Libraries thrive because of the support of our community and the dedication of our staff,” stated Wake County Commissioner Tara Waters. “National Library Week is a perfect time to celebrate and, for anyone who hasn’t visited us, discover what makes Wake County Public Libraries a welcoming space for all.”

The event also provides a moment for reflection on the past year, where Wake County Public Libraries maintained its role as a key learning and community connection point in 2024. Through various programs and resources, the library continues to be an essential part of the community.

National Library Week, first observed in 1958 under the theme “Wake Up and Read!”, commends the vital contributions of libraries. The theme for this year, “Drawn to the Library,” celebrates the varied ways people engage with libraries for education and entertainment.

Visitors can participate in a range of engaging programs, find the latest bestselling novels, or experience the joy of discovering new insights. The library encourages everyone to embrace its offerings and share their experiences with friends and family. For more information about services and programs, individuals are invited to visit wake.gov/libraries.
