Wake County announced that all facilities providing non-essential services will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, due to winter weather conditions. The decision comes after forecasts of freezing rain and snow flurries in the area, with temperatures expected to drop below freezing overnight. This could lead to slick roads and potentially hazardous driving conditions in the morning.

The delayed opening does not affect essential personnel such as law enforcement, EMS, and other first responders, who will continue their operations as usual.

According to Wake County officials, “Out of an abundance of caution for employees and residents, Wake County will delay opening all facilities providing non-essential services until 10 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 9.”

Residents are encouraged to check for further updates at wake.gov/weather.
