The Wake County Board of Commissioners is opening the floor to resident input on changes to short-term rental regulations at an upcoming meeting. On Monday, officials will review staff recommendations and listen to public feedback regarding an amendment that would remove the current requirement for property owners to reside in their short-term rental units. The Board plans to deliberate on these changes in future sessions.
Wake County Commissioner Vickie Adamson emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, “It’s important that we hear from the homeowners from across the county who will be impacted by this amendment, so we want to allow proper time for the public to be able to engage with us on the issue.”
Currently, short-term rentals are permitted in Wake County, but it remains one of the few regions mandating owners to occupy the rental property.
Those interested in voicing their opinions can register online to speak at the meeting. Additionally, residents who cannot attend have the option to submit their comments via the internet. The registration and online comment window will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on the day of the meeting.
