Wake County commissioners have approved construction contracts for significant renovations at Harris Lake and Blue Jay Point county parks. The updates are funded by the 2018 Parks, Greenways, Recreation and Open Space bond.
Susan Evans, chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, stated, “These renovations are an exciting milestone in our continued commitment to preserving natural spaces while expanding recreational opportunities for everyone.” She expressed gratitude to voters for enabling these improvements.
Harris Lake County Park in New Hill will receive upgrades under a $3.42 million contract awarded to TCC Enterprises, Inc. of Louisburg. These enhancements follow the 2017 Wake County Parks Facility Master Plan.
Blue Jay Point County Park in north Raleigh will also see improvements with a $6.13 million contract awarded to BAR Construction Company Inc. of Greensboro, as outlined in the same master plan.
The projects aim to increase equitable access to recreational experiences and adapt parks to meet community needs. More information is available on the project webpage and wake.gov/parkprojects.
