The Wake County Animal Center has launched its “Home for the Holidays” adoption campaign, aiming to find homes for pets during the December holiday season. The campaign features animated vintage holiday cards that depict pets’ wishes, such as joining families for seasonal activities.

“Our pets’ holiday wishes are simple,” said Wake County Commissioner Shinica Thomas. “A warm home, lots of love and a family to call their own. We hope to show that these wishes are real and by adopting, the community can help make them come true.”

Special adoption fees will be available throughout December: $25 for dogs and $5 for cats and kittens. The center currently houses 90 dogs, one rabbit, and 40 cats and kittens, with an additional 51 dogs and 59 cats and kittens in foster care.

“We wanted to combine nostalgia, festive cheer and the joy of adoption, making this season brighter for both pets and people,” said Jennifer Federico, director of the Animal Center. “This holiday season, we hope you’ll make room for a new pet and proudly feature them in the postcards you send to loved ones near and far.”

The shelter will share stories about adoptable animals on its social media platforms throughout the holidays. Each story will be paired with a vintage postcard theme reflecting what each pet might wish for in a new home.

Adoptions are open daily from noon to 6 p.m., seven days a week at the Wake County Animal Center located at 820 Beacon Lake Drive in Raleigh.
