TNT 3D Construction, a company specializing in advanced concrete printing and sustainable building solutions, will receive a $300,000 grant from the state of North Carolina to support the reuse of a large industrial building in Zebulon. The announcement was made following the recent approval by the Rural Infrastructure Authority of 15 grants under the state’s Building Reuse Program.
Governor Josh Stein commented on the investment, stating: “Every investment we make in rural North Carolina enhances our state’s economic competitiveness and people’s lives. These local government grantees are receiving critical funding for infrastructure improvements that spur job creation and help their communities compete for future economic development wins.”
The company is expected to create 36 new jobs as part of this project, with an accompanying private investment totaling $720,588. Zebulon Mayor Jessica Harrison said: “We’re proud to see Zebulon chosen for this investment. With support from the state and Wake County, we’re welcoming an innovative company that sees the potential here and wants to grow alongside our community.”
TNT Development aims to introduce new methods in construction through automation and a vertically integrated model, which it claims will allow faster delivery of housing at lower costs while reducing environmental impact.
Wake County Board of Commissioners Chair Don Mial noted: “We congratulate TNT Development on receiving this grant to expand its operations and workforce in Zebulon — a move that is good for the company and the local economy. We’re excited that this facility will use innovative technology to build much-needed affordable housing for families in our fast-growing community.”
Over the next 18 months, TNT expects to create 36 full-time jobs spanning advanced manufacturing, construction technology, engineering support, and workforce training. Within three years, total employment at the site is projected to reach 60 full-time positions.
Tone Terrell, president of TNT Development, stated: “Zebulon offers a strong workforce foundation, a commitment to skills training and a community that understands the value of manufacturing and construction careers. As the home of our growing TNT Companies ecosystem, this expansion allows multiple operating subsidiaries to grow together while creating long-term career opportunities for local residents.”
