Taylor Hall scored with 1:06 remaining in overtime to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 3-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 2 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs series, according to a May 5 announcement.

The victory puts the Hurricanes ahead two games to none in the best-of-seven series. The result is significant for Carolina as they continue their postseason run, aiming for another deep playoff push.

After falling behind by two goals early, Carolina responded with a power-play goal from Nikolaj Ehlers and an equalizer from Seth Jarvis late in regulation. In overtime, Sean Walker set up Hall, who drove to the net and scored on his own rebound. “I didn’t realize I fell down, and then put it in. When you score in overtime, it seems like parts of your memory just kind of go. It was a gritty goal,” Hall said after the game.

Jarvis praised Hall’s overall effort: “He’s been incredible. Almost more important than his goal was his block in the third with a couple of seconds left… For him to put his body on the line, and then get rewarded with a goal, I couldn’t be happier for the guy.” Head coach Rod Brind’Amour added: “He wants to win, so he’s doing whatever he has to do to help the team… He’s just been a great player for us.” Brind’Amour also commented on overcoming an early deficit: “(Falling behind early) was not ideal… But you’ve got to give the guys credit, they did a great job there and then found a way to tie it up.”

Goaltender Frederik Andersen made 34 saves—including several key stops during overtime—continuing his streak of allowing two or fewer goals each game this postseason. Defenseman Sean Walker said about Andersen: “Fred’s been so good the whole playoffs so far… He’s unbelievable and a really big part of our team and all the success we’ve had right now.”

Ehlers highlighted Carolina’s resilience: “Well, we don’t quit… if we keep playing the right way … we will get back to playing some pretty good hockey.” According to the official website, players such as Eric Staal and Rod Brind’Amour have made significant contributions recognized by induction into their Hall of Fame; Staal is also among franchise leaders mentioned during this playoff run.

The Lenovo Center serves as home arena for Carolina and can host up to 20,000 people at more than 150 events annually; its economic impact exceeds $200 million each year through sports events and community engagement initiatives according to the official website.

Carolina will be off Tuesday before resuming practice Wednesday ahead of Game 3 Thursday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
