Wake County is set to host a series of educational sessions aimed at demystifying the budget development process for its residents. These sessions will provide insights into how the county manages its $2 billion budget and allocates tax dollars.

Wake County Commissioner Tara Waters emphasized the importance of these sessions, stating, “Developing our annual budget is a complex process that requires months of extensive planning and discussion. These educational sessions will break it down into easy-to-understand steps, so interested residents can leave feeling more informed about our efforts to make the best use of every tax dollar.”

The sessions are scheduled for this spring and will be held at public libraries throughout the county. Formats will vary, with some featuring formal presentations and interactive activities, while others offer informal discussions with budget experts.

Additionally, Wake County Manager David Ellis is expected to present his Fiscal Year 2026 Recommended Budget to the Wake County Board of Commissioners on May 5. Residents can access information about the current Fiscal Year 2025 Adopted Budget on the county's website.
