Congresswoman Deborah Ross, representing North Carolina's 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared her views on several pressing issues via social media. Ross, who has been serving since 2021 after replacing George Holding, addressed concerns related to federal workforce changes, education policies, and sports safety.
On February 5, 2025, Ross expressed her opposition to President Trump's proposed changes to the federal workforce. She stated that "President Trump's planned purge of the federal workforce is a direct attack on North Carolina’s economy and security." According to Ross, this move would negatively impact government operations and harm vulnerable populations such as seniors and children while damaging key industries in North Carolina.
Later that day, Ross commented on educational policies affecting children in North Carolina. She criticized President Trump's initiative to dismantle the Department of Education by saying "Every child in North Carolina deserves an outstanding public education." She further described the proposal as unconstitutional and vowed to oppose it: "I will fight this illegal maneuver every step of the way."
In recognition of National Girls and Women in Sports Day on February 5th, Ross highlighted her commitment to supporting athletes. She announced her leadership role in promoting legislation aimed at protecting athletes from abuse: "We must do everything we can to support athletes. That's why I'm leading the Safer Sports for Athletes Act - to strengthen protections & help end sexual abuse & violence in sports."
