Congresswoman Deborah Ross, who has been representing North Carolina’s 2nd district since 2021, recently shared her thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets. Ross, with a background in law and a history of public service in the North Carolina House of Representatives, expressed her views on Black History Month, economic policies under former President Trump, and budget cuts affecting essential programs.
On February 1st, Ross commemorated Black History Month by emphasizing the importance of recognizing the contributions of Black Americans. She stated: "Today we celebrate the beginning of #BlackHistoryMonth, a time when we honor the contributions that Black Americans have made to our state and our country. This is a time for joy, remembrance, and acknowledgement that Black history is American history."
On February 2nd, she addressed economic concerns related to tariffs implemented during Trump's administration. Ross highlighted potential financial burdens on American consumers by stating: "People across the country are already struggling with high prices, and the Trump tariffs will only increase costs. Taxing imports of food, medicine, energy, and everyday products won’t help American manufacturing. It’ll only hurt Americans’ wallets."
In her tweet from February 3rd, Congresswoman Ross criticized proposed budget cuts by President Trump that could affect essential programs for children. She argued these cuts are more than just fiscal adjustments: "The programs that President Trump wants to cut are not just abstract budget items. They are the difference between a child eating a nutritious meal at school or going to class hungry. We will not stay silent as he wages a war on the American people."
