Frederik Andersen's 22-save shutout and Andrei Svechnikov's multi-goal performance led the Carolina Hurricanes to a 4-0 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The game began with Svechnikov scoring just 56 seconds in, assisted by Taylor Hall.

The match remained competitive into the second period, with Andersen stopping several attempts from the Rangers. As the period neared its end, Mikko Rantanen and Jackson Blake set up Svechnikov for his second goal, giving Carolina a two-goal lead.

Carolina continued their momentum in the third period with quick goals from Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis, extending their lead to four. This marked Andersen's first shutout of the season and his ninth as a Hurricane, tying him with Pyotr Kochetkov for seventh in franchise history.

The Hurricanes are now one of only four teams in NHL history to have four different goaltenders record shutouts in a single season. "It was a good start," said Rod Brind'Amour about the team's early third-period goals. He praised Hall and Rantanen for their contributions.

Svechnikov's performance marked his 20th career three-point game, joining an elite group of Hurricanes players. The team also excelled defensively, preventing any power-play goals from the Rangers and maintaining their top-ranked penalty kill.

Riley Stillman made his debut for Carolina after recovering from injury, wearing his father's number from the 2006 Stanley Cup victory. Despite limited ice time, he participated actively.

Reflecting on the win, Andersen noted, "The way we shut it down in the third was awesome." The Hurricanes will next face off against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night.
