Governor Josh Stein has formally requested FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell to prolong the Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) program for North Carolinians affected by recent events. The extension, if granted, would continue through September 30, 2025.
In his appeal, Governor Stein emphasized the challenges faced by residents in western North Carolina. "The people of western North Carolina are experiencing chaos and uncertainty that is untenable," he stated. He highlighted the need for continued support as individuals work to restore their homes and communities.
Governor Stein further noted the importance of extending this assistance through the winter months to ensure access to safe and secure shelter during rebuilding efforts.
