The Carolina Hurricanes are set to face the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Wednesday night. The game will be broadcasted on TNT, Max, and TruTV, with puck drop scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET. Fans can also listen to the game on 99.9 The Fan or through the Hurricanes App.

Currently holding a record of 26-15-3, the Hurricanes stand third in the Metropolitan Division. Their last outing resulted in a 3-2 overtime loss against the Anaheim Ducks on January 12. Despite the loss, Andrei Svechnikov and Seth Jarvis helped secure a point for their team by scoring late in regulation.

Svechnikov's performance has been noteworthy as he extended his point streak to five games with his ninth power-play goal of the season against Anaheim. He ranks tied for fourth among all NHL forwards in this category.

Captain Jordan Staal was recently named the NHL's Second Star of the Week after leading all skaters with seven points over four games from January 6-12.

In goal, Pyotr Kochetkov may start for Carolina after allowing three goals on 20 shots in their last game. Alternatively, former Sabre Dustin Tokarski could be called upon following his shutout performance against Vancouver.

The Buffalo Sabres have struggled this season, currently sitting at eighth place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 16-22-5. They suffered a recent defeat to Seattle Kraken by a score of 6-2.

Despite challenges, JJ Peterka has been productive for Buffalo with 14 points over his last 13 games. Goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has started eight of their last nine games and holds a season record of 13-13-4.

On injuries, William Carrier is considering options following a lower-body injury sustained earlier this month. Tyson Jost remains out long-term due to an injury from December. Frederik Andersen returned to practice post-knee surgery and is expected back soon according to GM Eric Tulsky.

Carolina will wear white uniforms for this matchup and plans to practice Thursday before facing Vegas Golden Knights on Friday night at Lenovo Center.
