A new video released today showcases Governor Roy Cooper's efforts to bolster North Carolina's economy, adding over 640,000 jobs and attracting significant economic investments during his tenure. Under his leadership, the state was recognized as the Top State for Business by CNBC in 2022 and 2023, maintaining a top-three position for five consecutive years. The video includes interviews with state economic leaders and highlights Cooper's work in repealing House Bill 2, also known as the "Bathroom Bill," which had negatively impacted the state's reputation and economy.

Governor Cooper stated, "North Carolina is the best place on the planet to do business thanks to our dedicated, talented, well-educated, diverse workforce, our quality of life, our purpose-driven economic recruitment and our business climate." He emphasized that both international companies and local businesses are contributing to the state's economic growth.

Since taking office in 2017, Cooper has focused on rebuilding North Carolina's reputation following the fallout from House Bill 2. His administration negotiated its repeal and aimed to create a more inclusive environment with increased opportunities. This effort resulted in over 640,000 new jobs across various sectors such as advanced manufacturing and clean energy.

Notable job announcements include Toyota with 5,100 jobs and $13.9 billion investment; Apple with 3,000 jobs and $1 billion investment; FUJIFILM Diosynth with 1,405 jobs and $3.2 billion investment; Novo Nordisk with 1,000 jobs and $4.1 billion investment; Eli Lilly with 1,051 jobs and $1.4 billion investment; Wolfspeed with 1,802 jobs and $5 billion investment; Boom Supersonic with 1,750 jobs and $500 million investment; Natron Energy with 1,062 jobs and $1.39 billion investment; Boviet Solar with 908 jobs and $294 million investment.

In advancing clean energy initiatives since issuing Executive Order 80 in 2018 for a Clean Energy Plan, North Carolina has become a hub for clean energy job creation. Companies like Wolfspeed, Toyota, Boom Supersonic, Siemens Energy, Kempower, and Natron have announced major projects resulting in thousands of clean energy positions.

The video further details these accomplishments under Governor Cooper’s leadership.
