NC State baseball players Alec Makarewicz and Jacob Cozart have been recognized as D1Baseball All-Americans. Announced on Wednesday morning, Makarewicz earned a place on the Second Team, while Cozart was named to the Third Team. Both athletes have received multiple All-America honors recently, including recognition from Baseball America.
Makarewicz has accumulated several accolades this season, such as ABCA/Rawlings All-Atlantic Regional First Team honors and NCBWA Third Team All-America accolades. Additionally, he was acknowledged as the NCAA Raleigh Regional's Most Outstanding Player. He led NC State with a .378 batting average, 84 RBIs, 24 home runs, and other impressive statistics. His performance set new records for total bases in a single season at NC State.
Cozart has also had an outstanding season, having been named a Perfect Game Second Team All-American and receiving First Team All-ACC accolades in May. As one of three finalists for the Buster Posey Award, Cozart's contributions include a .305 batting average and 19 home runs. Defensively, he maintained a .994 fielding percentage and excelled in throwing out base stealers.
Cozart is considered a top prospect for the upcoming MLB Draft according to MLB.com's Top 200 Prospects List.
