Today, Governor Roy Cooper signed Senate Bill 743, known as the Disaster Recovery Act of 2024 - Part II, into law. This legislative action is aimed at aiding recovery efforts in Western North Carolina following a severe storm.
Governor Cooper emphasized the need for further action, stating, “Western North Carolina needs significant investments to recover fully from the worst storm our state has ever seen. Legislators have taken a small step here and should follow it with a more comprehensive package to help families, businesses and communities build back stronger.”
The signing of this bill marks an initial move towards addressing the extensive damage caused by the storm.
