RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's basketball team will participate in the 2024 Jimmy V Women's Classic Presented by Corona. As one of three games chosen for the Jimmy V Men's and Women's Classic, NC State will face Louisville on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. on ABC. This game will serve as the ACC opener for both teams.

"We're super excited and honored to play in the Jimmy V Women's Classic," said head women's basketball coach Wes Moore. "Coach [Jim] Valvano will always be near and dear to NC State. He was an inspiration to all, and he continues to be through his impact with the V Foundation and their fight against cancer."

This marks NC State's fifth appearance in the Jimmy V Classic, having previously hosted UConn in 2002, Texas in 2003, Tennessee in 2004, and playing at South Carolina in 2020. The game against Louisville will be NC State's second away game for the Jimmy V Classic. In their all-time series, NC State and Louisville are tied at 8-8, with NC State currently on a five-game winning streak against Louisville.

The Jimmy V Classic is named after legendary college basketball coach Jim Valvano and annually raises money and awareness for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The women's event debuted in 2002 with NC State participating that year as well; meanwhile, the men's classic began in 1995. Both events are part of ESPN's V Week initiative aimed at promoting cancer research among sports fans. To date, ESPN has helped raise nearly $236 million for the V Foundation since its inception in 1993. Over the past 17 years alone, ESPN's annual V Week has contributed nearly $89 million.

Tickets for NC State’s game in the Jimmy V Women's Classic will be managed and sold by Louisville.
