RALEIGH, NC – NC State quarterback Grayson McCall has been named to the watch list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, as announced by The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation this week.

McCall is among 63 FBS quarterbacks honored on the watch list, recognizing him as one of the top quarterbacks in the country. The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award annually acknowledges the best senior or upperclassman quarterback who is set to graduate with their class. The selection process involves a distinguished committee of college football journalists, commentators, announcers, and former players.

The Indian Trail, N.C., native is in his first season with NC State after transferring from Coastal Carolina. During his tenure with the Chanticleers, McCall played 42 games, amassing over 10,000 passing yards with 88 touchdown passes and just 14 interceptions.

In the previous season, he was named a 2023 College Football News (CFN) All-American honorable mention and a HERO Sports' Group of Five All-American second-team performer.

McCall is also on five other watch lists: the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, Comeback Player of the Year Award, Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, and now the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Johnny Unitas's legacy serves as the namesake for this award. An NFL veteran of 18 years, Unitas played collegiate football at the University of Louisville before joining the Baltimore Colts in 1958. His career statistics include 2,830 pass completions for 40,239 yards and 290 touchdowns; he notably threw a touchdown pass in 47 consecutive games.

The recipient of this year's award will be presented with the Golden Arm Award trophy at a celebration held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland on Friday, December 6, 2024.
