Today, Governor Roy Cooper signed two bills into law: House Bill 228 and House Bill 942.
House Bill 228, titled "Rev. Laws Tech., Clarifying, & Admin. Chngs.," aims to make technical, clarifying, and administrative changes to existing laws.
House Bill 942, known as the SHALOM Act, addresses antisemitism in the state.
Governor Cooper commented on HB 942: "Defining antisemitism is important to stopping it, and this new law helps do that as antisemitic incidents are on the rise. While we protect the right to free speech, this legislation helps to make our state a more welcoming, inclusive and safe place for everyone."
