Additionally, over $20 million was invested in direct construction and infrastructure in Wilkes County, with nearly $29 million in visitor spending.

Governor Cooper emphasized the success of the decision to invest federal relief funds in renovating speedways, stating, "bringing NASCAR racing back to North Wilkesboro not only brings back a great sport, but tens of millions of dollars and good jobs for North Carolinians."

Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders praised the impact of grants from the Motorsports Relief Fund on tourism, stating, "Small businesses in each of these communities benefit from this investment in one of North Carolina’s most important economic engines."

Marcus Smith, President and CEO of Speedway Motorsports, expressed gratitude for the financial and community support that enabled the modernization of North Wilkesboro Speedway, allowing history to continue being made at the iconic venue. Smith eagerly anticipated hosting race fans for the upcoming 40th running of the NASCAR All-Star Race.

The article highlighted Governor Cooper's efforts to revitalize speedways across North Carolina, with funds allocated for crucial upgrades at North Wilkesboro Speedway. The investments played a key role in the decision to host the 2023 NASCAR All-Star Race at the historic track.

North Wilkesboro Speedway, one of the first NASCAR tracks, has seen a resurgence in recent years thanks to community efforts and state investments. The return of racing to the Speedway in 2022 was met with overwhelming support, culminating in the successful hosting of the 2023 NASCAR All-Star Race.

As preparations are underway for the 2024 NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 19, the positive economic impact of the 2023 event serves as a testament to the benefits brought about by investing in motorsports venues.
