Attorney General Josh Stein has commended Governor Roy Cooper's budget proposal for the fiscal year 2024-2025, emphasizing the importance of enhancing public safety measures and investing in various critical areas in North Carolina. Stein expressed his gratitude towards the inclusion of funding for a Fentanyl Control Unit in the budget, highlighting its significance in combating the distribution of dangerous drugs.

"We need to do more to keep our towns and cities safe," stated Attorney General Josh Stein. "Our ability to prosecute more of these cases will save lives."

Stein also lauded the state's progress in expanding Medicaid and clean energy initiatives, advocating for further investments in workforce development, child care centers, and teacher salaries to bolster the state's economy and educational system.

"North Carolina has made incredible progress... Gov. Cooper’s budget prepares our state to keep leading the country with a strong economy, great public schools, and safe communities," remarked Stein.
