North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper expressed his enthusiasm for the arrival of Innovative Construction Group (ICG) in Chatham County, stating, “North Carolina’s growth and reputation as an excellent place to do business continues to attract great companies to the state.” The company plans to create 157 new jobs over the next five years with a capital investment of $39.8 million.

Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders highlighted the significance of investing in public education and workforce training systems, stating, “Just as this company is investing in our state, we must continue to invest in the public education and workforce training systems that are the building blocks of economic growth in North Carolina.”

The $39.8 million investment by ICG is expected to have a positive economic impact on Chatham County, with the average salary for the new positions being $52,949, higher than the current average wage in the county. The project is supported by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) and is estimated to grow the state’s economy by $463.2 million over a 12-year term.

N.C. Representative Robert Reives acknowledged the collaborative effort involved in bringing ICG to Chatham County, stating, “Many people and organizations came together to make today’s decision possible, but we know the work is just beginning.”

Various entities, including the North Carolina General Assembly, North Carolina Community College System, and Duke Energy, among others, partnered with the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina to support the project.

The decision to establish a new manufacturing facility in Chatham County reflects the company's confidence in North Carolina's business environment and workforce. With the support of state and local entities, ICG’s presence in the region is expected to contribute to economic growth and job creation in the area.
