Governor Cooper Announces Boards and Commissions Appointments

Governor Roy Cooper has made a series of appointments to various boards and commissions in North Carolina. Among the appointments announced are those to the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners, the North Carolina Council for Women, the Governor's Crime Commission, the Energy Policy Council, and several others.

D. Curtis Lawson of Durham has been appointed as a public member to the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Lawson brings with him years of experience from his time as a Senior Administrative Officer and Lead Research Biologist at the Durham VA Health Care System and as the Associate Athletics Director and Head Coach for tennis at North Carolina Central University.

Erin Hill Hart of Summerfield has been appointed as a member at-large to the North Carolina Council for Women. Hart currently serves as the Chief of Staff at North Carolina A&T State University.

Among the appointments to the Governor's Crime Commission are Elena Faddoul and Eleanor Burns, both appointed as citizens under the age of 21 at the time of their appointment. Faddoul is a student at Leesville Road High School and a Governor’s Page Program intern, while Burns is an undergraduate student at North Carolina State University.

Joseph P. Carroll, Jr. of Greensboro has been appointed to the Energy Policy Council for his experience in natural gas and associated hydrocarbon exploration, development, and production. Carroll is the President of ZNC Renewable Energy and Montauk Ag Renewables.

Elizabeth Boney Jenkins of Wilmington is appointed as a member at-large to the Executive Mansion Fund Incorporated Board of Directors. Jenkins has a background that includes working in the U.S. House of Representatives and serving as an Education Consultant in the Office of Governor James B. Hunt, Jr.

Rev. Kent D. Tilley of Belmont has been appointed as a Certified Fee-based Pastoral Counselor Associate to the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Fee-Based Practicing Pastoral Counselors. Tilley is the owner of Montcross Counseling Center.

Sara J. Crowder of Murfreesboro has been appointed as a member at-large to the Historic Murfreesboro Commission. Crowder is a local financial advisor with Edward Jones.

Gianna Venero of Clayton has been appointed as a member at-large to the Juvenile Justice Planning Committee. Venero currently serves as a Clemency Case Analyst for the Clemency Department within the Office of the Governor.

Jonathan David Flaspoehler of Huntersville has been appointed as a public member to the North Carolina Military Affairs Commission. Flaspoehler is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and works as a corporate development and strategy professional at Wolfspeed.

Various appointments were also made to the North Carolina Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists Board of Examiners, the North Carolina Symphony Society Incorporated Board of Trustees, the U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship Commission, and the North Carolina Veterans Affairs Commission.

These appointments reflect Governor Cooper's continued efforts to ensure diverse representation and expertise across various boards and commissions in the state of North Carolina.
