The Holiday season comes with lots of extra boxes! Here are some tips on how to dispose of the packaging that’s leftover once the gifts have been opened.
Recycle Cardboard Boxes
- Flatten boxes
- Place loosely in your blue recycling bin
Boxes that aren’t flattened take up too much room! If you break down your boxes, it helps you and it helps our crews. You’ll have more room in your cart and our truck won’t fill up as quickly, which means fewer trips back and forth to the recycling facility.
Don’t Recycle These Items; They Go in the Garbage:
· Glitter or waxy wrapping materials
- Plastic bags (including trash bags and grocery bags)
- Packing foam
- Styrofoam
These are not recyclable and should go in your green garbage cart. We appreciate your help in properly disposing of all the extra packaging that comes with the holiday season. For more information on what you can recycle, visit raleighnc.gov and search for “recycling.”
