Yard Waste Pick-up Running Behind

City collection of residential yard waste is running a bit behind schedule, due to the high volume of storm debris from Tropical Storm Ian. If your yard waste was not picked up on your regular collection day this week, please leave it curbside and we’ll get to you as quickly we can.

Our crews will be working through the weekend to catch up.

In order to be responsive to our residents, Solid Waste Services temporarily increased yard waste limits to assist with storm cleanup. This has resulted in a 75% increase in the amount of yard waste picked up in the past week! Normally this time of year, our crews take an average of 809 tons of yard waste a week to the Yard Waste Center for recycling into mulch. This past week, that figure jumped to 1,420 tons.

Through Oct. 19, residents may leave up to 20 biodegradable paper bags and up to 10 properly prepared bundles along with their 95-gallon yard waste cart for curbside pickup. For details on properly preparing yard waste, visit our preparation page.

It is possible, with temporary yard waste volume increases as well as ongoing staffing challenges, that we will again fall behind in our yard waste collection schedule. Please continue to leave your material at curb and we will get there as quickly as we can. We appreciate your patience as we work to process the extra yard waste.
