North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will present 12 grant checks to emergency response units in eight counties and present an Order of the Guardian Award during a two-day trip to the eastern part of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 10-11.

Commissioner Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, will present grant checks to units in Hertford, Bertie, Northampton, Halifax, Beaufort, Washington, Martin and Edgecombe counties.

These checks are the result of grant contributions made by the NC Surplus Lines Association to help firefighters and rescue squads in North Carolina.

“It is also an honor for me to personally present these surplus lines checks, courtesy of the NCSLA,” Commissioner Causey said. “This money will help needy rescue units better respond to critical lifesaving situations in their areas.”
