Dangers of Turkey Frying and Other Fire Safety Tips

Fireturks

City of Raleigh recently issued the following announcement.

Thanksgiving is a peak day for cooking-related house fires. The National Fire Protection Association discourages the use of turkey fryers, which can lead to devastating burns, other injuries, and property damage.

Cook Your Feast Safely

Turkey fryers aren't the only danger this Thanksgiving. The Raleigh Fire Department wants you to stay safe from cooking-related fires this holiday season. Here are some tips to keep you safe and activities for the kids.

Three easy ways to prevent a fire

  1. Never leave cooking unattended, including your turkey
  2. Use a timer to keep track of cooking times
  3. Always keep a lid beside your pan. If you have a fire slide the lid over pan and turn off burner.
