West Peace Street Repaving

Peacestreetwebbanner

City of Raleigh recently issued the following announcement.

As part of the Peace Street resurfacing, the City's contractor, Fred Smith Company, will close Peace Street to westbound traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, to allow for paving operations.

Westbound traffic continuing through the area to the Village District or NCSU will need to use Glenwood Avenue to Washington Street/Nichols Drive as a temporary detour for the day.

Glenwood Avenue to Washington Street - Turn left on Washington Street to Nichols Street - Follow Nichols Street to Sutton Avenue - Turn left on Sutton Drive to Cameron Street - Turn right on Cameron Street to Woodburn Avenue - Turn left on Woodburn Avenue to Clark Avenue - END DETOUR

Drivers who wish to proceed east on Peace Street may do so by turning left at Woodburn Road to head back towards downtown Raleigh.

The City of Raleigh’s resurfacing contractor, Fred Smith Company, is moving at a steady pace to improve the transportation experience of motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians along Peace Street. While these improvements do come with some inconvenience, staff has worked with the contractor to reduce the overall impact to our residents and businesses to the greatest extent possible. To reduce impacts during weekday business hours and sound impacts of night work, crews will complete this work on the weekend during day.

We thank you for your patience while crews work on repaving this busy street.
