North Carolina Bertie County GOP issued the following announcement on June 24.

Governor Roy Cooper continues his war on North Carolina families and small businesses with the implementation mechanism of his face mask order. Cooper’s executive order holds businesses responsible for enforcing his laws while letting individuals off the hook. During the riots and looting, Cooper passed the buck and hid in his mansion while mayors quelled the violence. His only adventure outside of his basement was to march with the protestors without a mask. Instead of holding individuals responsible for their own actions, Cooper drafts small business owners into his enforcement plan. He requires these struggling small businesses to enforce his executive order and chase away healthy customers.

“Republican leaders across North Carolina encourage people to take personal responsibility and wear face masks,” said NCGOP Press Secretary Tim Wigginton. “Rather than enforce the order himself, Cooper forces small business owners to enforce it instead. Cooper failed leadership is harming North Carolinians from Murphy to Manteo. November cannot come fast enough for North Carolinians to replace Roy Cooper with a real leader like Dan Forest.”

North Carolina was one of only 12 states to fail to add more jobs during May. What is even worse is that Cooper’s administration continues to fail to deliver unemployment benefits promptly. For months Cooper’s administration has been ranked last in the nation, and he refuses to clear out the backlog.

*While over a million North Carolinians are out of a job, Cooper completely ignores how other states have safely reopened. Cooper keeps hiding behind cherry-picked data and political science to hide what the White House Cornoraviurs Task Force labeled a fundamental flaw in North Carolina's response to COVID. Congressman Greg Murphy, who is also a practicing physician with decades of experience, held a press conference where he highlighted that our issues had nothing to do with reopening. Instead, Cooper made a fundamental error, which is why he refuses to release all the COVID data that people need to stay safe. A media coalition, including the New York Times and the Associated Press, had to sue Cooper to force him to comply with North Carolina's public records law if Cooper had nothing to hide why is he refusing to release all of the COVID data.
