Six faculty members from North Carolina State University have been elected as fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, according to a March 26 announcement.
The election recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to science or its applications. The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is known as the world’s largest scientific society and publishes the journal Science.
Each year, members are nominated by their peers and reviewed extensively before being selected by the AAAS Council, which serves as the policymaking body for the organization. The AAAS has been awarding fellowships since 1874.
This year, AAAS named a total of 449 fellows. The newly elected fellows will be formally recognized in an upcoming issue of Science in April. An induction ceremony is scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C., on May 29, 2026.
The recognition highlights ongoing achievements by researchers at North Carolina State University and their role in advancing scientific knowledge.
