Senator Vickie Sawyer, representing northern Mecklenburg and Iredell in the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA), recently shared updates on her legislative efforts and Independence Day greetings through a series of tweets.
On July 3, 2025, Senator Sawyer emphasized her commitment to ensuring that the P.A.V.E. Act addresses regional priorities rather than focusing solely on Charlotte. She stated, “As your #NCGA Senator for northern Mecklenburg and Iredell, I fought to make sure the P.A.V.E. Act isn’t just another Charlotte-centric plan. I worked to ensure regional priorities like the Red Line are front and center.” She further informed voters that they have a say in this tax decision.
Later that day, she announced a legislative success concerning Lake Norman. In her tweet, she declared, “Big win for Lake Norman! HB 23 passed the #NCGA — awaiting the Governor’s signature.” The bill aims to enhance local lake management by granting enforcement power on safety and water quality to the Marine Commission.
On July 4th, Senator Sawyer extended holiday wishes to her constituents with a message celebrating American independence. She tweeted, “Wishing everyone a safe and fun Independence Day! Enjoy the fireworks, the time with loved ones, and the pride of American greatness.”
The P.A.V.E. Act is an initiative focused on infrastructure development in North Carolina.
