North Carolina State Senator Phil Berger has recently used his social media platform to highlight Republican efforts to expand nuclear and natural gas energy production in the state, aligning with former President Donald Trump’s national energy agenda.
On August 18, 2025, Berger posted, “North Carolina is setting the stage to ensure nuclear energy can flourish and pave the way for American dominance! Republicans are meeting the moment to supercharge @realDonaldTrump’s vision of robust energy production to support reliable, 24/7 power for homes, businesses, jobs,” emphasizing the state’s commitment to developing nuclear energy infrastructure.
The following day, August 19, Berger highlighted Rockingham County’s role in expanding natural gas supply through pipeline projects. He stated, “Rockingham County is playing a pivotal role in boosting our state’s natural gas supply, thanks to multiple pipeline projects, including MVP Southgate. These projects are a major step toward making North Carolina a leader in reliable, clean energy and advancing @realDonaldTrump’s”.
On August 20, Berger criticized Governor Josh Stein for vetoing The Power Bill Reduction Act and praised Senate Republicans for overriding the veto. He wrote, “Gov. Josh Stein tried to hold North Carolina hostage to the radical Green New Scam by vetoing The Power Bill Reduction Act. Senate Republicans stood for what is right and fought back by overriding his costly veto. @realDonaldTrump is leading the charge nationally to protect”.
Phil Berger was elected as a Republican member of the North Carolina State Senate in 2023 representing the state’s 26th district after succeeding Dave Craven. His recent posts reflect ongoing political debates over energy policy in North Carolina and efforts by state Republicans to align with national party priorities on fossil fuels and nuclear power.
