Senator Phil Berger, a Republican representing North Carolina’s 26th Senate district since 2023, used his social media platform to criticize former Governor Roy Cooper and current Governor Josh Stein in a series of posts on July 28 and July 29, 2025.

Later that day, after legislative action in the chamber, Berger reported on the outcome: “The Senate just got done overriding 12 of Gov. Stein’s vetoes. Berger has served in the state senate since winning election in 2023 after succeeding Dave Craven as senator for District 26.
