Senator Phil Berger, a Republican representing North Carolina’s 26th Senate district since 2023, has recently commented on several state government issues through his social media posts.

On January 7, 2026, Berger responded to a court decision involving Governor Stein and the General Assembly by stating: “Another victory secured! Despite Gov. Stein’s efforts to weaponize the courts to usurp the General Assembly’s authority, this ruling recognizes reality and proper constitutional order. In North Carolina, the governor is not a king. #ncpol https://t.co/YaF7rcYRfb”.

The following day, on January 8, Berger highlighted his sponsorship of the DAVE Act, aimed at reviewing government expenditures for potential inefficiencies. He wrote: “The DAVE is examining government spending to identify fraud, waste, and abuse, and that’s exactly why I sponsored the DAVE Act. It’s critical that we scrutinize every dollar to ensure taxpayers’ money is spent wisely. #ncpol https://t.co/Zu3wPengT5”.

Later on January 8, Berger addressed concerns about road safety and compliance with federal regulations in North Carolina. He posted: “These issues must be immediately addressed to keep North Carolinians safe on the road. The #NCGA stands ready to assist, @SecDuffy. I look forward to hearing about why @RoyCooperNC allowed the NCDOT to break federal rules and how @JoshStein_ is going to fix Cooper’s flagrant”.

Phil Berger was elected in 2023 after succeeding Dave Craven as senator for North Carolina’s 26th district.
