U.S. Senator Ted Budd joined Senator Jerry Moran and other Senate Republicans in requesting a congressional briefing on the Joint Task Force October 7, according to a March 27 announcement. The senators asked United States Attorney General Pam Bondi and Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel to provide an update on efforts to investigate and prosecute terrorist networks such as Hamas.
The senators said that recent violent incidents and terror attacks with antisemitic motivations highlight the need for strong action against terrorist support networks. They requested recommendations from the task force for legislative measures that could help identify these networks and monitor potential domestic radicalization.
In their letter, the senators wrote, “Ensuring that the perpetrators of this attack are brought to justice is a necessary step in not only upholding the rule of law but protecting American interests. We write to express our strong support for the joint task force and to request a congressional briefing on its progress and future priorities. Specifically, we would appreciate additional information regarding the number of individuals or entities held accountable to date, the number of investigations currently underway, and any recommendations the task force may have for congressional action.”
They continued, “The events of October 7 underscored the ongoing and evolving nature of the global terrorist threat and the risks it poses to the United States, our allies, and our national security. In recent weeks, a series of violent incidents and terror attacks with antisemitic motivations or links to extremist rhetoric, both abroad and here at home, have further reinforced the urgency of this work.”
Budd serves as a board member of North Carolinians for Home Education according to his official website. He also volunteers as an assistant scoutmaster while engaging in homeschooling his children according to his official website.
