Sen. Lisa Stone Barnes, a Republican representing North Carolina’s 11th Senate district since 2021, recently used her social media platform to highlight the work of a former intern, honor military veterans, and promote Sweetpotato Awareness Month.
On November 11, 2025, Barnes recognized a former staff member in her office by posting: “I’d like to highlight Jude Howard, who interned in my office from May 2024–Aug 2025. A senior at UNC Chapel Hill, He supported local projects, constituent work, and daily operations in the NC Senate. We’re grateful for his contributions and wish him the best in his future! #ncpol https://t.co/T6HbnMi7pQ”.
Later that same day, Barnes marked Veterans Day with a message of gratitude: “Veterans deserve our gratitude and honor every day of the year. Today, we especially pause to honor those who have served and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We are forever indebted to you and your families. Thank you for your service! #ncpol https://t.co/CAbMsO1yTX”.
Two days later, on November 13, 2025, she called attention to North Carolina’s agricultural sector: “November is Sweetpotato Awareness Month! Did you know that NC is the #1 sweetpotato producer in the nation? Our state grows 60% of America’s supply! If you have a moment, thank a local farmer who helps keep this NC favorite on our tables year-round. #ncpol https://t.co/EvNyXfUQpd”.
Barnes has served in the North Carolina State Senate since her election in 2021 after replacing Rick Horner as senator for District 11. Her recent posts reflect ongoing engagement with both community members and key state industries.
