Sebastian Aho of the Carolina Hurricanes has been ranked as the 13th-best center in the National Hockey League by NHL Network. This recognition comes after Aho led the Hurricanes in scoring for the seventh time in his nine-year career, finishing last season with 74 points over 79 games.
Aho, who is from Rauma, Finland, received Selke Trophy votes for his performance on both ends of the ice and tied for second in shorthanded points during the regular season with seven. In the 2025 playoffs, he recorded 15 points in 15 games and won 54.8% of his faceoffs among players who took at least 250 draws, ranking third overall in that category.
In addition to his NHL achievements, Aho contributed two assists in three games at the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament and was named as one of the first six skaters to represent his country internationally, where he will aim for a fourth career medal.
Aho was originally selected by Carolina as the 35th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. He currently ranks fourth among players from his draft class in both career points (631) and goals (283), trailing only Edmonton’s Connor McDavid among centers in these categories. The Hurricanes are set to begin their upcoming season at Lenovo Center against the New Jersey Devils on October 9.
NHL Network’s list of top current centers includes a combined total of twelve Stanley Cups, five Conn Smythe Trophies, ten Ted Lindsay Awards, eight Hart Trophies, eight Art Ross Trophies, seven Maurice Richard Trophies, and three Selke Trophies.
