Governor Josh Stein has announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of Michael James Mitchke. The incident occurred on August 21, 2022, when officers responded to a report of a camper on fire at 3740 St. Peters Church Road in Salisbury. Inside the camper, Mr. Mitchke, aged 57, was found deceased. An autopsy revealed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Governor Stein’s announcement aims to encourage individuals with any relevant information to come forward and assist in solving this case. “Anyone with information concerning this case should contact the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at (704) 216-8700 or the State Bureau of Investigation at (919) 662-4500,” stated officials.

The state hopes that this reward will lead to new developments in the investigation and ultimately bring justice for Mr. Mitchke.
