Representative Brian Echevarria, a Republican elected to the North Carolina State House in 2025 representing the 82nd district, used his Twitter account on January 16, 2026, to express concerns about government spending and Medicaid expansion.

In one post, Echevarria emphasized the source of government funds: “Every dollar governments spend is YOUR dollar. Whether it comes from federal, state, or county—it’s taxpayer money. The question is, is it the public purse or the public’s purse? #ncpol https://t.co/Ru3HE1kCuv” (posted January 16, 2026).

Later that day, he questioned efforts to expand Medicaid by stating: “Expanding a flawed system? Error and fraud rates with Medicaid are already high! More money won’t fix what’s broken. Is this a political trap? #Medicaid #GovWaste #ncpol https://t.co/V36gtMtKrY” (posted January 16, 2026).

In another tweet addressed to Mashburn4NC on the same day, Echevarria wrote: “@Mashburn4NC you have been alluding to this since I met you.” (posted January 16, 2026).

Echevarria succeeded Kristin Baker as representative for North Carolina’s 82nd House district following his election in 2025.
