Rep. Kelly Hastings, a Republican representing North Carolina’s 110th House district since 2011, addressed allegations against him in a series of posts on August 22, 2025.
In his first post, Hastings stated: “I know it’s hard for those who falsely accused me to read this, but the relevant bill language is as follows: ‘9) The applicant is legally authorized to work in the United States.’ I also voted to require sheriffs in N.C. to cooperate with U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement.” (August 22, 2025).
Shortly after, he reiterated his position by posting: “I know it is tough on those who falsely accused me.” (August 22, 2025).
Later that day, Hastings added: “It’s sad to see the false allegations against me and others, but I am used to it by now. I am sure it is difficult on the people who realize they falsely accused me.” (August 22, 2025).
Hastings has served in the North Carolina State House since his election in 2011. He succeeded Pearl Burris-Floyd as representative of the state’s 110th House district.
