Rep. Jeff Zenger, a Republican representing North Carolina’s 74th House district since 2021, recently shared a series of posts on his social media account addressing topics ranging from historical press freedom to local fiscal policy and legislative actions.
On August 5, 2025, Zenger referenced a significant moment in American history by posting: “August 4’ 1735
John Peter Zenger, publisher of the New York Weekly Journal is acquitted of charges of libel against Gov William Cosby. An important case for freedom of the press.”
The following day, on August 6, he raised concerns about property taxes and municipal spending with the question: “So how many of you will have to cut spending to pay your properly tax bill? What did our municipalities cut?”
Later that same day, Zenger highlighted recent legislative activity in North Carolina’s General Assembly: “Last week I was proud to join my colleagues in overriding the Governor’s veto on several important bills. Including the NC REINS Act, HB 301, and HB 171!
