Rep. Brenden Jones, a Republican representing North Carolina’s 46th House district since 2017, used his social media account to highlight recent legislative actions and criticize Governor Roy Cooper’s fiscal management.
On July 28, 2025, Jones posted: “Roy Cooper mismanaged hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars as Governor and now he wants a promotion to the U.S. Senate.
If he couldn’t handle North Carolina’s budget, just imagine the disaster he’d be with trillions in federal spending. #ncpol https://t.co/tsbt1UTsMM“
The following day, on July 29, 2025, Jones announced legislative developments regarding immigration enforcement: “Override #2 is Done.
The NC House has officially overridden HB 318! This commonsense law requires sheriffs to check immigration status when someone is charged with a serious crime — and if they’re here illegally, they must be turned over to ICE. #ncpol https://t.co/tlUqgmUoia“
Shortly after, Jones posted about another override vote concerning government spending transparency: “Override #3 Is Done.
The NC House has just overridden HB 402 — a major win for transparency.
If a state agency proposes a rule costing $20M+ over 5 years, it now must get General Assembly approval. No more runaway spending behind closed doors in Raleigh. #ncpol https://t.co/AveZvjbr24“
Jones has represented the state’s 46th House district since his election in 2017, succeeding Ken Waddell.
