Rep. Brenden Jones, a Republican member of the North Carolina State House representing the 46th district since 2017, has recently posted several statements on his Twitter account criticizing both legislative gridlock and education policies in North Carolina.
On December 3, 2025, Jones addressed ongoing state budget negotiations, stating: “Speaker Hall hits the nail on the head. The NC House passed a fair, responsible budget months ago, but the Senate is holding it hostage. House Republicans will continue the fight for a fiscally responsible future. If you want this resolved, call your Senator. #ncpol”.
Later that day, he commented on educational practices in Chapel Hill–Carrboro Schools: “This was taught in an elementary school. It shouldn’t be a surprise that Chapel Hill–Carrboro Schools have lost over 1,000 students since Covid. Woke politics have no place in elementary school classrooms. #ncpol”.
The following day, Jones criticized a book selection at Chapel Hill–Carrboro Schools: “Chapel Hill–Carrboro Schools is really embracing the holiday spirit with a ‘top pick’ book for 2nd and 3rd graders called… Santa’s Husband, the story of a Black Santa, his white husband, and their life at the North Pole. #ncpol”.
Jones succeeded Ken Waddell as representative for North Carolina’s 46th House district when he was elected to office in 2017.
