Rep. Brenden Jones, a Republican member of the North Carolina State House representing the 46th district since 2017, has recently posted several comments on social media regarding educational content and school policies in Chapel Hill–Carrboro.

On December 4, 2025, Jones made a pointed remark about holiday traditions, stating: “Failed to mention the “organic gluten-free grains” that the “Santas” feed their reindeer “.

The following day, December 5, he raised concerns about book recommendations for young students in Chapel Hill Carrboro schools. He wrote: “Chapel Hill Carrboro’s elementary school resources page includes four sexually explicit recommended books for K-4th graders.

“These are my EYES, This is my NOSE, This is my VULVA, These are my TOES”

Later that same day, Jones discussed his appearance on Newsmax and reiterated his position on state law compliance by local schools. He stated: “Had the opportunity to join Newsmax to discuss CHCCS’s blatant disregard for the Parental Bill of Rights.

My message to Chapel Hill–Carrboro Schools is simple: If you refuse to follow state law, every option remains on the table. #ncpol https://t.co/N1VyKUWcIB“.

Jones has served as a representative since replacing Ken Waddell in 2017. His recent posts reflect ongoing debates in North Carolina over educational material and parental rights within public schools.
