Rep. Brenden Jones, a Republican serving North Carolina’s 46th House district, announced his intention to seek re-election for a sixth term through a series of posts on his social media account in early December 2025.

On December 1, Jones wrote, “It’s official. I’ve filed for re-election to represent District 46 for a 6th term. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together over the past decade like creating new jobs, rebuilding our communities after Matthew and Florence, and standing firmly with our law enforcement.”

The following day, Jones commented on an upcoming investigation involving local schools: “House Oversight Committees Investigation against Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools will take place on December 10th. As a sneak peak, we discovered that CHCCS taught students that lynchings still happen in America. Should this political indoctrination be in our schools? #ncpol” The post referenced concerns about educational content in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools district.

Later on December 2, Jones posted another message referencing North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper: “Every kid dreams of Roy Cooper gear being under their tree during the Holidays #ncpol”

Jones has represented the state’s 46th House district since his election in 2017, succeeding Ken Waddell. Over his tenure, he has focused on issues such as job creation and disaster recovery following hurricanes Matthew and Florence.
