Rep. Ben Moss, a Republican representing North Carolina’s 52nd House district, posted on his social media account about the response to a recent train derailment in Hamlet and ongoing recovery efforts.

On March 17, 2026, Moss expressed appreciation for emergency personnel following the incident. He wrote, “I’m grateful for the quick, professional response from our local first responders and CSX crews following Saturday’s train derailment in Hamlet. Most importantly, there were no injuries, and the situation was quickly secured.”

In a subsequent post on the same day, Moss updated constituents on continued recovery operations: “I’ve remained in close contact with local officials to ensure the necessary resources and coordination are in place as cleanup and recovery continue.”

Later that afternoon, Moss marked St. Patrick’s Day with another message: “Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Grateful for the people and values that make our communities strong.”

Moss has served as state representative since 2023 after succeeding Jamie Boles in North Carolina’s 52nd House district.
