The North Carolina Republican Party criticized on April 1 two complaints filed by activist Bob Hall, calling them politically motivated attacks meant to intimidate Republican election officials and erode public trust in state elections.
Party leaders say the complaints target actions taken by Republicans in Cumberland County, including the appointment of precinct officials and a campaign contribution made four years ago. The party claims there is no evidence of legal or procedural wrongdoing connected to these allegations.
“Bob Hall is yet again abusing the complaint process to conduct a partisan smear campaign against Republicans. It’s reckless, dishonest, and we will not tolerate it,” said NCGOP Chairman Jason Simmons. Simmons also said, “There is not a single credible allegation of legal or procedural wrongdoing. Just innuendo, spin, and political resentment which have absolutely no merit.”
According to Simmons, Hall’s complaint includes criticisms about appointing qualified Republican precinct officials during what the State Board of Elections described as “one of the smoothest election days in recent history.” The party also states that Hall has not provided any witnesses or evidence over four years regarding an alleged unreported campaign donation involving Board Secretary Brenda Eldridge.
The North Carolina Republican Party emphasizes individual dignity, freedom, and responsibility while advocating for equal rights, free enterprise, and limited government according to the official website. The party operates within North Carolina as a political entity focused on state-level advocacy according to its official website, with headquarters at 1506 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh according to its official website.
In closing remarks from the statement: “The NCGOP will not sit back while partisan activists weaponize government processes to harass Republican volunteers. If you abuse the system to attack public servants, there will be consequences.”
